The Star and the Shamrock (1341 H St) held a very popular soft opening weekend and will officially open to the public tonight.
The place looks awesome and the food and beer options are many. In addition to the usual jewish deli offerings, they have a series of fun bar snacks like fried matzo balls, reuben egg rolls, and a play on kosher pigs in a blanket. They were cash only this weekend, so bring cash or your debit card (they have an ATM) until they get their credit machines up and running.
You can check out this Prince of Petworth post with his photos and thoughts from the soft opening and a Thrillist piece, which also has a copy of the opening dinner menu. They offer a wide variety of beers, including some Hebrew Kosher ones, and a long list of Irish and other whiskeys.

They really did a great job with the renovations. I'm excited to see Biergarten, which I hear is going to look great too!
