Clark Ray champions streetcars, chastizes CM Phil Mendelson for flip flopping on issue

DC Council At-Large candidate Clark Ray champions streetcars and calls out CM Phil Mendelson in this press release. Ray notes that Mendelson stood alongside Council Chair Vince Gray in nearly derailing streetcars and was a regular critic of the plans to install them in DC until he recently reversed track and voted with the rest of the Council to pass a bill to permit an overhead wire along H Street earlier this week.

Ray is a a veteran of the Clinton-Gore Administration and the former Neighborhood Services Coordinator under Mayor Williams and Director of the Mayor’s Office of Community Relations and Services and of the Department of Parks and Recreation Director under Mayor Fenty. Ray is running a spirited campaign against Phil Mendelson, a former social worker who chairs the Committee on Public Safety & the Judiciary.
