Smith Commons (1245 H St) was the talk of the town last week with a soft opening, a NYE opening, and will officially open tonight at 5 p.m. for full service. CityStream's 365 Things to do in DC had this preview with these great pictures showing the impressive rehabilitation of this property.

The H Street Shuttle ran its last trip to H Street. While the X9 Express bus is now running and offering experess service along a similar route, the last express bus leaves for H Street around 6:30 p.m., so much of the shuttle's coverage remains without a good public transporation option. This is an unfortunate development.

You still have the X2, which does provide good coverage for about 99% of the shuttles route. It only misses the turn up Benning Rd.
ReplyDeleteYou haven't been on the X2 much if you think it provides good coverage anywhere. BTW, I think you mean it stays on Benning, but misses Bladensburg.
ReplyDeleteI take the X2 at least a few times a week. I'm not sure what the gripe is--it runs the same route as the shuttle and I used to take whichever one showed up first at Gal Place. Usually it was the X2. Thanks for the correction--I did mean Bladensburg.
