H Street cleans up in City Paper Best of 2011: Best Neighborhood & much more

Best Up and Coming Neighborhood

Best Neighborhood Phoenix: The Argonaut ("Since the latest iteration of the Argonaut opened in January, some loyalists have lamented the new place isn’t as “divey” as the Argonaut of yesteryear. That may be so. But it would be silly for the bar to not evolve and improve as the rest of the H Street corridor reshapes itself. The Argonaut is the face of a changing neighborhood. And the fish tacos are still fantastic.")

Best Outdoor Patio: Biergarten Haus

Best Pie: Dangerously Delicious Pies

Best Mussels: Granville Moore's

Best Karoke: Kostume Karoke at Little Miss Whiskey's Golden Dollar (runner up Sticky Rice)

Best Pet Services: Spot On Training (now open beneath Metro Mutts)

Best Tweeting Politician: Tommy Wells

Runnerup for Best Ethiopian: Ethiopic

Runnerup for Best Late Night Eats: Taylor Gourmet

Runnerup for Best Dance Company: Joy of Motion & also Best Dance Class

Runnerup for Best Jazz/Blues Venue: HR-57

Runnerup for Best Pet Shop: Metro Mutts

Runnerup for Best Property Management: Evolve

Runnerup for Best Neighborhood for Nightlife: H Street

Runnerup for Best New Venue: Red Palace

And lots of other terrific Capitol Hill spots, from Eastern Market to Schneiders to Seventh Hill and more were winners as well.  THIH has the full roundup of the greater Hill area winners here.

  1. Nice title, but we didn't win "Best Neighborhood". We won "Best Up and Coming Neighborhood". Big difference.

FWIW, I do think H Street is the best neighborhood.

  2. Seems hasty to be claiming HR-57 as an H Street business...
