Please save the date – Tuesday, April 9th, 6:30–8:00pm– for a very special candidate forum for the upcoming April 23rd At-Large Council special election. This forum will be focused on schools and education issues.
Working with parents organizations, such as CHPSPO, we're putting together a non-partisan candidate forum for the upcoming April 23rdspecial election to fill the at-large councilmember seat -- but with a twist. The forum will be partnering with the Eliot-Hine Middle School civics club and student government association (and we're reaching out to students from other schools) to have the candidate forum help get young people more involved in their own neighborhood and with the city leaders that make decisions impacting them every day.
In the build-up to the forum, the students will be meeting once a week with officials from the Council, ANC, and Board of Education, as well as advocates and reporters covering education issues in the city. The forum itself will be co-moderated by the students and a member of the DC media.
