Traffic Restrictions on 12th Street NE to Accommodate TPSS Installation
On Thursday, October 10th and Friday, October 11th, traffic will be restricted on 12th Street NE between G and H Streets to accommodate installation of the Midline Traction Power Substation (TPSS) at the southwest corner of 12th and H Streets.

The TPSS is a prefabricated structure measuring 40 feet long and 20 feet wide. It will be delivered in two sections on “wide load” flatbed trailers and unloaded by a large crane. The sections will be delivered on Thursday and stored overnight on 12th Street, south of H Street. The units will then be unloaded and set in place on Friday. The traffic and parking restrictions will be lifted as soon as the TPSS installation is complete on Friday.
During the street closure, traffic barrels and portable barricades will be installed at the H Street, G Street and Linden Place intersections with 12th Street and also at the 12th Street end fo the alley behind AutoZone. Advance warning signs will be posted at the intersection of 13th Street and Linden Place as well as at the 12th Street alley entrance to alert motorists about the closure.
Detour signes will be installed to direct the traveling public around the work zone as follows:
- Southbound 12th Street traffic will be detoured east on I Street, then south on 13th Street. Those who wish to return to southbound 12th Street may continue south on 13th Street to G Street, then turn west on G Street, then south on 12th Street.
- Northbound 12th Street traffic will be detoured west on G Street, then north on 11th Street to H Street. Those who with to return to northbound 12th Street may continue on H Street to 12th and turn north on 12th Street.
