The Pug looks out for furloughed fed employees this weekend w/10% off

The Pug (1234 H St) will give 10% off to federal employees carrying their IDs this weekend if as expected the federal government shuts down.  Congressional staff are, however, exempted from the deal regardless of whether or not their offices deem them excepted, esstential, or send them home too.  If you end up furloughed, you might find our recent listing of weekday lunch options on H Street useful.

  1. Why the exemption for Congressional staff?

  2. Because it's their (bosses') darn fault that the government could be shutdown in the first place! No rewards!

  3. Haha that's sad. Believe me, the poor staffers have nothing to do with this. And if anyone needs a discount, it's them!

  4. The furloughed congressional staffer who answers the phones in the office and makes 26K has nothing to do with the shut down and has very little impact on setting federal public policy.

    Clearly she should be blamed.

  5. First off, there aren't supposed to be any Politics at the Pug no how.

I'm pretty sure that whatever staffers find themselves at the Pug tonight will somehow make it by paying the regular price.
