Link roundup

DCUrbanTurf takes a look at the Loree Grand, which is the newly opened apartment building at 250 K Street.  It looks like a great addition to the neighborhood!

DCUrbanTurf also reported that DC-area houses are selling faster and for more money than they did a year ago. This is certainly fits with what we have seen anecdotally in our area along the H Street corridor.

DCist checked out the Temporium before its final weekend.

Thrillist is was excited for last week's H Street Eats. Early reports are that H Street patrons and businesses had a very successful and enjoyable week.

Fruit Bat officially opened at 1236 H St. City Paper, The Hill is Home, We Love DC, and Frozen Tropics are all pretty excited about it. So are we. Great craft cocktails and great South American street food at very reasonable prices.

TBD reported that the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities has selected D.C. sculptor Wilfredo Valladares to design a series of eight totem poles to fill the empty space on the 300 block of H Street this fall, part of the commission's ongoing "Pop-Up Public Art Project" series.  The new pop up art exhibit is to be installed prior to next month's H Street Festival.

Tommy Wells launched some ads in support of his re-election campaign, including one on H Street. Tommy said he's
"really excited about the future of H Street" noting that "there's nothing else quite like this in DC." Wells promised to remain engaged on H Street to see the ongoing progress through with tax incentives and other efforts to help further H Street's "great pedestrian feel." Thanks, Tommy!  We are counting on you and excited to see what we are able to accomplish in your next term.

Greater Greater Washington asks what Vince Gray was thinking when he yanked funding for streetcars during the Council's budget debate earlier this year.  Gray's answer: "staff error."
DC Beer Week kicked off over the weekend and included a multi-course meal from Chef Teddy Folkman at Granville Moore's last night. Tonight H Street Country Club hosts Harpoon Pints for Putts – The shot of your life. 1 Beer. 1 Putt. 120 feet. Sink it and walk away with a regulation totally sick $3000 Pool Table! and Star and Shamrock teams up with He’brew Ales for “Brisket & Brews.” Join Shmaltz Brewing Company, Star and Shamrock along with tasty He’Brew Ales for some creative pairings.  Little Miss Whiskey's has Food and Beer Pairing with w/ Chef Adam Stein from the coming soon Queen Vic with four courses for $20.  Liberty Tree has an exciting four course affair planned for tomorrow. Beer Week is ongoing citywide, but H Street is the symbolic home with many of the week's top events.
