The first public meeting for Florida Avenue NE safety improvements is coming up on June 19th (7-9pm at Gallaudet's Chapel Hall). There are three planned meetings over the next few months to discuss potential improvements by DDOT including expanded sidewalks, bike lanes, reduced lanes, street trees, and more.
It is very important that as many people come as possible to remind DDOT that this project is essential for ensuring the safety of residents and visitors. This study is the culmination of many years of letter writing, letters, meetings, and other lobbying by the ANC, CHNNA, NoMa BID and many, many more.
There is also a website set up where they are soliciting general or specific comments at www.FloridaAveSafety.org. More information will also be posted here. The study will end next Spring, and it will hopefully include actionable recommendations for improvements for which DDOT can begin design & construction soon after.
Thank you,
