Today is the LAST Fresh Farm H Street Farmers Market of the season. Get there early to stock your freezer for winter. Today is also the Market's third annual food drive.
This food drive is different than most, as it is really a FRESH food drive. People are welcomed to bring shelf stable stuff from home, but most people to either shop at market and donate the food OR to donate cash (check or credit too) at the market info table. As they collect money, they spend it with the farmers to benefit the needy. Last year they collected over $1000 and used it all to purchase food from the Market. The First Church of Christ uses the donated food to assemble Thanksgiving baskets for needy families.
Last weekend the Market collected over $200 in donations for the upcoming drive. Let's help them get even more this weekend.
