Nouveau Fleur (500 H St) (543-8616) is a full service florist selling individual flowers, arrangements, wedding and party designs, sympathy tributes, plants and gourmet gift baskets. It has been owned and operated by Debbie Moultry for about two years now.
Debbie Moultry’s store offers beautiful bouquets and feels more like her lovely home than formal florist shop. In addition to creating beautiful flower arrangements, the store offers plants and boutique candles. Debbie is a trained master gardener, so she can dispense advice caring for your cut flowers or living plants.
Debbie is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and poses an abundance of the charticteristic Midwest kidness. She creates floral arrangements to suit the least well-informed husband or boyfriend and can work to provide just the right thing for your vase or color scheme. She does weddings and other special events and delivers throughout the District and nearby suburbs. She stocks very high quality flowers and arranges them exquisitely, so there is no mistaking the bouquets she creates for something you might grab at the grocery store or have fedexed from a major online distributor.
Nouveau Fleur is open Monday through Saturday. Weekdays until 5:30 and Saturdays until 3:30 p.m. It is exactly the type of retail small business that we want to see more of on H Street, so if you haven't been stop by, introduce yourself, and pick up some flowers to brighten your home or someone else's day.
And she's open today for last minute Valentine's offerings. Give her a call or stop by after your next trip to Sidamo.

I am so glad you mentioned this florist ... I would have never known!
ReplyDeleteI'm a neighborhood resident and have used this florist. I was extremely pleased with the hostess arrangement she prepared. It was beautiful and classic without looking like a quick internet order. She's also very reasonably priced. I will definitely go back!
ReplyDeleteDebbie was the florist for our wedding which was in August of 2009 in Cleveland, OH. My husband and I live in Baltimore and got married in Cleveland (which is where we are from) and everything was absolutely perfect! We only had to visit her store in D.C. one time and she was able to make our dreams come true.
ReplyDeleteLast Sunday, Valentine's day, while walking past the flower shop with my business partners, we noticed flowers strewn in the snow on the sidewalk. I stopped to pick up one particular flower and take pictures. While we were standing there, a woman came out of the flower shop and we introduced ourselves. She invited us in and it was a warm and inviting place. We explained we were opening a gallery at 804 H Street and one of us was a gallery/studio owner at 408 H Street.
ReplyDeleteDebbie. the owner was attending to a customer but asked us to wait so she could speak to us.
After completing the customer's order (a beautiful floral arrangement for this special day) she introduced herself, all the while working on another arrangement. When she was finished, she handed it to us - and not just a bouquet of flowers, but an arrangement in a glass bowl - and said "Welcome to the neighborhood!"
What a pleasant surprise and a wonderful welcome! As new businesses on H Street, we couldn't have felt more welcome and hope to see Debbie often at both Studio H Gallery and at City Gallery!
Thanks Debbie, we are so happy you brightened up the snow bank with flowers!
