WP's Tom Sietsema says Smith Commons is a "new name to remember" on H St

Tom Sietsema has this "First Bite" minireview of Smith Commons (1245 H St) in today's Washington Post.

Sietsema welcomes Smith Commons as part of H Street's "rapidly expanding food and drinks scene" and says after checking out the quality renovation of the old warehouse, he "wanted to move in."  He also speaks highly of the drink options at Smith Commons, but appears to like some menu offerings more than others.  He joins us in recommending the beef carpaccio, the "eggplant lasagana", and the scallops, but seems to have had an overcooked steak.  We've had that experience as well, but have been impressed by how graciously the staff has whisked it away, replaced it with one properly cooked, and how much we've enjoyed it when not overdone.

Overall, the review is a nice, early assessment of Smith Commons, which is off to a very good start and will likely continue to improve as they settle in as the new hot spot in town.  In the meantime, we recommend considering calling ahead for a table on weekends or planning ahead to grab a drink upstairs while you wait.  Despite H Street's rapidly expanding dining scene, we've found long waits for tables at Smith Commons, Granville Moore's, and the Atlas Room on recent weekend nights.
