On
Third Thursdays in Brookland, one may visit over 29 open studios in the Arts Walk
at Monroe Street Market. Two of the spaces, the Washington Drawing Center and
The Wild Hand Workspace will host opening receptions (see details below). Enjoy
food and live music courtesy of Danceplace featuring performances by Polvo
& Scree starting at 6:30 p.m.

Center - 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Washington
Drawing Center presents Chris Dolan’s 07092012-09212013:
Recent Landscapes of the District and Southern Maryland. Dolan “set himself the challenge of producing one
landscape every day for the period between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day

The Wild Hand Workspace-
6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Also
in Brookland, The Wild Hand Workspace will host an opening reception for the
illustrations of Hannah Dean in her first exhibition It’s a Wonderful Life. Her work examines relationships and
organizational themes spanning a variety of media. To read more about the

Washington Project for
the Arts – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
WPA
Professional Practices presents Working
with Galleries. The panel discussion, led by experts in the field, will help
artists navigate through the challenges of working with a gallery. This event
is free for WPA members and $10 for non-members. For more information about

The panel will be held at Capitol Skyline
Hotel located at Lounge, 10 I (eye) Street SW.
doris-mae - 6 p.m. to 8
p.m.
Get a last look at the site-specific
installation of Hsin-Hsi Chen (she’s covered an entire room, floor to ceiling, with her
work!) and Amanda Kates’ intensely colored multi-media work. Meet the artists

Washington Sculptors
Group - 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Washington Sculptors Group has partnered with
the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to present Gedankenexperiment.
Curated by Sarah Tanguy, this exhibit

Montpelier Arts Center -
7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Join Montpelier Arts Center
for a reception honoring this summer’s exhibitions. The reception will feature
three exhibitions in the Main Gallery, the Library Gallery, and the Residents

Curious about street art?
Artist Rajan Sedalia will be teaching classes on Saturdays through July 12.
Learn about graffiti art, painting, airbrushing, cartoons, comics, color and

After taking Rajan
Sedalia’s street art class stop by Gallery O on H for their relaxing courtyard
Jazz series, Jazz in the Hood. In
addition to viewing the gallery’s permanent collection, visitors can peruse
“The Shops” starting at 4 p.m. while the music begins at 7 p.m. This event is
free and open to the public.
