The Elroy - NY Ave Beach Bar reincarnated coming to 1423 H St?

The liquor license associated with the New York Ave Beach Bar -- a venue run by well-regarded local bartender Tom Brown (who previously worked at Cork and is partnered with his brother Derek at the Passenger) and his business partner Karl Brown -- is now pending transfer to 1423 H Street NE.  The application notes The Elroy will be a beach themed bar frequently aided by food trucks, which sounds a lot like the NY Ave Beach bar that had a popular run last summer at 623 New York Ave NW.  The full application follows.  We'll update as we have more.

    Update: The Washington Post's Fritz Hahn reports that Tom Brown is not part of the proposed new H Street venture. We nonetheless look forward to hearing more about it and will share as we have more.

    I went to The Elroy on Saturday. I think I will make a great addition to H Street corridor. While, they have some kinks to workout, such as completing the menu and drink list, I think that The Elroy will uplift that block. Since the hours are 4-3 am, it will make a great happy hour spot and a great spot after a concert at Atlas. The owner is super cool and takes a great deal of pride in his business.
