3rd & H to reopen to pedestrian & vehicular traffic today thanks to streetcar construction progress

Intersection of 3rd Street NE and H Street NE Will Reopen to Vehicular and Pedestrian Traffic

On Monday, February 10, 2014, the intersection of 3rd Street NE and H Street NE will reopen to pedestrian and vehicular traffic; weather permitting. All pre-existing 3rd Street NE detours and turn restrictions will be lifted and all lanes in both directions will be open.
All turning movements allowed before the closure of 3rd Street NE will be restored.
Crosswalks at 3rd Street NE and H Street NE will be reopened and pedestrians will be able to cross in all directions. A temporary crosswalk is still in place at the top of the Hopscotch Bridge for pedestrian access to Union Station. Pedestrians are advised that the south sidewalk on Hopscotch Bridge adjacent to the Plaza Place development is currently closed due to construction unrelated to the DC Streetcar project.
Traffic signals will be restored to normal patterns and the flashing yellow signals turned off. Once the streetcar is fully operational, a dedicated streetcar signal will control streetcar traffic through the intersection. All traffic should continue following the traffic signals at all times.
The westbound X2 bus stop that was moved from 3rd Street to 4th Street will remain until further notice.
