DC Beer Week August 15-20 lots of great events on H Street at Granville Moores, Smith Commons, Little Miss Whiskeys & Red Palace

The 3rd annual DC Beer Week is August 15-20. It's shaping up to be an amazing week for craft beer lovers in the District, especially on H Street where craft beer lovers find lots to celebrate.  Granville Moores & Smith Commons have events throughout the week and Red Palace and Little Miss Whiskeys are joining in the fun as well.  Look for a series of beer dinners from Chef Teddy Folkman and team at Granville Moore's and regional beer nights (Midwest, MidAtlantic, NE, and West Coast) at Smith Commons.  Little Miss Whiskeys and Red Palace will host Great Lakes Brewery nights and local gem DC Brau will also be featured at Red Palace.

Monday, August 15
Duvel Moortgat Beer Dinner at Granville Moore’s (1238 H St)
Join Granville’s Moore’s for an eight course mini-plate dinner developed
by Chef Teddy Folkman, National Culinary Ambassador of Brewery Ommegang, and Steven Cardello, Marketing Manager of Duvel-Moortgat USA. The dinner will feature beers from Duvel, Brewery Ommegang, Maredsou, Brasserie D’Achouffe, Liefmans and De Koninck.

Tuesday, August 16
Lager vs. Ale at Little Miss Whiskeys (1104 H St) with Great Lakes/Lagunitas – 6pm
Great Lakes Brewer Luke and Logan from Lagunitas will be offering great examples of both types of beers and discussing the nuances between lagers and ales.
DC Brau Meet the Brewer at the Red Palace (1212 H St) – 6pm
Meet Jeff Hancock, President and Head Brewer at DC Brau, at the Red Palace. Talk with Jeff about his Public, Corruption, and Citizen beers while drinking them on draft and in cans at a discount!

Granville Moore’s (1238 H St) Hosts Schlafly Dinner – 6:30pm
Granville Moore’s Chef Mike Lunsford and Schlafly Chef Andy White take you on a five course culinary joy ride featuring the beers of Schlafly. Last year’s dinner sold out in a day, so act quickly on this one. These amazingly talented chefs will each be preparing their own pairings to the beers as well as collaberating on two of the courses. $70 per person. Wednesday, August 17
Midwest Brewery Night at Smith Commons (1245 H St) – 5pm   Smith Commons will be featuring breweries from a different region of the country for four different nights during DC Beer Week. Wednesday will feature breweries from the midwest. $5 pints, $15 bombers, and $5 regional themed small food pairings. The tentative brewery list includes:
Colorado (Avery Brewing Co., Boulder Beer, Oskar Blues Brewery)
Ohio (Great Lakes Brewing Co.)
Michigan (Bells Brewery Inc., Founders Brewing Co., New Holland Brewing Co., Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales)

Trinity Brewhouse Beer Dinner at Granville Moore’s (1238 H St) – 6:30pm
Chef Maria Evans teamed up with Brewmaster Sean Larkin and Chef Teddy Folkman to put together a five course dinner featuring one of the beers Chef Maria and Chef Teddy brewed at the Trinity in July. Look for Chef Maria’s classic New England Dishes, Sepia with Milled Malt and Sorachi Hop Oil, a whole pig, and a bunch of other surprises, all with a Granville’s twist. $70 per person. Thursday, August 18
Northeast Brewery Night at Smith Commons (1245 H St) – 5pm Smith Commons will be featuring breweries from a different region of the country for four different nights during DC Beer Week. Thursday will feature breweries from the northeast. $5 pints, $15 bombers, and $5 regional themed small food pairings. The tentative brewery list includes:

Meet the Great Lakes Brewer at the Red Palace (1212 H St) – 6pm
Taste some seasonal releases, including Great Lakes’ Oktoberfest beer, at the Red Palace. Cleveland’s favorite brewery will have beer on draft and in bottles, and Great Lakes beers will be discounted. You can also steal the pint you drink these beers in!

Friday, August 19
West Coast Brewery Night at Smith Commons (1245 H St)– 5pmSmith Commons will be featuring breweries from a different region of the country for four different nights during DC Beer Week. Friday will feature breweries from the west coast. $5 pints, $15 bombers, and $5 regional themed small food pairings. The tentative brewery list for includes:

DC Homebrewers Association Homebrew Competition at Red Palace (1212 H St)
$10 gets you entry into this homebrew competition on H Street. There will be a DJ and the opportunity to taste beers from homebrewers all across the city.

DC Beer Week Nerd Nite at the Red Palace (1212 H St)– 7pm

$10 entry gets you access to some great local bands and speakers. Speakers so far include Greg Engert (ChurchKey, Rustico), Brandon Skall (DC Brau), and others to be announced!

Mid-Atlantic Brewery Night at Smith Commons (1245 H St) – 5pm
Smith Commons will be featuring breweries from a different region of the country for four different nights during DC Beer Week. Saturday will feature breweries from the mid-Atlantic. $5 pints, $15 bombers, and $5 regional themed small food pairings. The tentative brewery list includes:
