Xclusive Restaurant & Lounge is seeking a Tavern Class liquor license to operate at 707 H Street. Several neighbors have organized a petition to encourage them to enter into an agreement to mitigate the impact they would have on the surrounding neighborhood. Of particular note to the neighbors, is the applicant's request to serve alcohol until 3 am on a stretch of H Street where there are currently no places serving alcohol. If you'd like to join the neighbors' request that the applicant work with the neighborhood to establish some basic ground rules for its operation, please read and sign their petition.

This is probably a good idea, given how much trouble the 4th Street community has had with Tru Orleans. Of course, in that case, Tru Orleans signed an agreement and then refused to honor it. So buyer beware!
ReplyDeleteI want to thank whom ever is taking the time to lead these efforts. It would be great to maybe have an email address where we could contact this neighbor to offer support in case something else in needed. I hope this club does not end up coming to our neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteAbout time people wake up and realize the bogus postings on certain neighborhood blogs which are nothing more than p.r. fronts for these type of bars. Thank god for this is not one of them.
ReplyDeleteI am a resident of 7th Street and there is a petition going around for a new bar called Po Boys (which just asks that the live music stop prior than 3am)- is this to replace that? Honestly, both sound horrible... Xclusive ? Ugh- sorry!
ReplyDeleteXclusive would be next door to Po Boy. I'm only aware of the petition for Xclusive. Please, please take two minutes to sign this petition. I am a resident at 6th and H, and the prospect of a club open until 3 am in this area is horrifying. Since when did the West End of H Street become Adams Morgan?
ReplyDeleteWhere can I sign up in support of this business?
ReplyDeleteYou would think @ FT but this is not a whitey place, so your loss.
ReplyDeleteI'm all for new restaurants, but this place is a club and the neighborhood does not need clubs.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one here who thinks that having some additional life on H Street at night is not a bad thing? C'mon guys, we are living off of a major thoroughfare in Washington (like Adam's Morgan / Georgetown / U St) - it is unreasonable to expect that businesses are not going to be open for the full hours of operation. If this was opening on a residential street, I understand, but H Street is a commercial corridor and always has been.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the record, I live two blocks from Tru Orleans and have had no problems with it (aside from occasional issues with the service staff).
If zoning allows for clubs and a liquor license can be obtained by the owners/operators, I don't understand why they should would not be allowed to operate like any other club in DC. Is there information out there about the owners/operators that shows they will not honor a neighborhood agreement or about the size of the club that is worrisome? Are they asking for a roof top deck our outside performance space?
ReplyDeleteThey would never be allowed to open a nightclub there and the point of the petition is to get them to sign a neighborhood agreement, so that their outdoor space and other operations don't cause too many issues for the neighbors. H Street isn't your average commercial district, it's in the middle of a residential neighborhood.
