Join the Sherwood Neighborhood Volunteers this Saturday at Sherwood Rec Center (640 10th St NE) for the 2nd Annual Sherwood Day

The Sherwood Neighborhood Volunteers are hosting their Second Annual Sherwood Day this Saturday, September 26, starting at 10 am at the Sherwood Recreation Center (640 10th St NE).
They'll have fun, family-friendly, community-building activities, including a moon bounce and face painting, going through 2 pm.

This Sherwood Day marks the first anniversary of the new Sherwood playground, so we hope everyone who enjoys it and lives in the area can join us to celebrate it and our community.

The Argonaut turns 10 & will celebrate a decade of awesomeness on H Street this Saturday afternoon

Happy Birthday, Argonaut!  Hard to believe it, but the granddaddy of H Street's revival and everyone's favorite neighborhood gathering spot (co-owned and co-managed by one of the finest H Street neighborhood households around) is turning 10.

Join Scott, Shaaren, Ara, the rest of the Argo team and your neighborhoods for a fun celebration on Saturday starting at 2 pm.  They'll have drink specials, give aways, and unveil a new house beer (we hear it's being brewed by a highly regarded craft brewery).  Argonaut recently added some new outdoor seating and a new outdoor bar as well, so if you haven't been recently, this is a good excuse to check those out as well.

ANC6A hosting education forum with local schools, CM Charles Allen & Bd of Ed Rep Joe Weedon, Thursday, September 10, 7 pm @ Miner Elem (601 15th St NE)

ANC6A will host an education forum with our local public schools, Councilmember Charles Allen and State Board of Education Representative Joe Weedon at our monthly meeting on Thursday, September 10, at 7 pm, at Miner Elementary (601 15th St NE).  Principals and parent leaders from our community schools, including Eliot-Hine, Maury, Miner, SWS, Ludlow-Taylor, and Eastern will be present to participate in this community conversation.

This is a great opportunity for our schools to share about their programs and areas that we as a community can assist them.  It's also a great opportunity for community members to learn more about your neighborhood schools and to learn how you can support them and get involved in them now.
Our schools are one of our community's most important assets and ANC6A wants to ensure that we are doing everything we can to facilitate greater support for and communication with our local schools.  This forum is the first step in that process.  If you have questions about our neighborhood schools and are interested in getting involved at them, please contact me our your single member district commissioner.

I hope you can join us next week.
